Marine-derived filamentous fungi have become an important source of drug leading compounds by their ability to produce novel and bioactive natural products. Unique and harsh environment in Antarctic marine environment made the fungi shown significant novelty and diversity in biological species and secondary metabolite. Antarctic marine filamentous fungi now are becoming a new important resource for drug discovery. In this paper, research in diversity and secondary metabolites of the marine-derived filamentous fungi in Antarctic were reviewed. |
